- BMW 2002 edition
Flourishing after off-loading Rover in 2001, BMW was poised to flood the car market with a host of new models.
BMW Compact
Using the excellent rear wheel drive platform from the 3
series, the compact proves to be even more enjoyable to drive than the car its
based on. Shortening itself from the rear gives it a more distinctive profile,
while the nose gets quad headlights. The same 3 series theme continues in the
interior of the car though the trim is offered in a wider range of colours to
make it more wider and adventurous.
Power comes from 4 types of choices which are as follows;
2.5L six cylinder
1.8L four cylinder
2.0L four cylinder
148 bhp 2.0L turbo diesel.
Also new is sharper steering which will be in the 3 series
as well. Well the space isn’t generous as ever in the Compact but it isn’t bad
and inevitably it is a delight to drive.

BMW 3 series
Without doubt the BMW 3 series is the car by which all small
executive models are judged. It manages to offer a perfect balance between
driver involvement and sophistication.
The engine range is just as vast with four cylinder and six
cylinder petrol choices and two excellent diesels. It’s new range topper is the
M3, that is the model to aspire too offering Porsche pace in a more practical
package.

BMW 5 series
Like the smaller 3 series the 5 is top of its class still impressing
all that drive despite the advancing years. It’s not a disappointment even
though you cannot go for the next couple of models after this since it’s a
refined and a capable executive car with an underlying sporting character. Even
with the smallest engines fitted the 5 is an enjoyable drive, though for the
ultimate rapid 5 the M5 has become a legend for it’s astonishing ability and
space.
Engine capacities available are 2.2, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 V6, 4.4
V6, 5.0 V6, 2.0d, 2.5d, 3.0d
